Unfortunately, humans are killing many different species of animals, hunting, catching certain animals for the value of their tusks such as elephants or rhinos or even with the indiscriminate capture of sharks to get their fins, is making the population of many animals is decreasing year after year. A clear example can be seen with the sharks, which can lead to the extinction of sharks.
When we talk about sharks, we must keep in mind that there are not only white sharks, bulls or hammerheads, for example. Within this group of the animal kingdom there are countless different species, which are slowly disappearing due to different causes.
According to a recent calculation, it is estimated that around 100 million sharks die each year and part of that fault is accidental catching. Likewise, it may also be due to non-objective fishing, which means that when fishing with longline fishing on the high seas, thousands of surface hooks and fishing lines are left that can cover several kilometers with the aim of fishing for swordfish.
One study revealed that longliners collect four times more sharks than swordfish in relation to weight. One of the most affected sharks is the marsh, which is already in danger of extinction.
Shark capture for fins is another reason. In many Asian countries they attribute shark fins almost magical properties. Many sharks are amputated and are released into the sea alive.
Ocean pollution is another reason why sharks are slowly disappearing. The plastic that we can find in the oceans has great responsibility, something that directly affects their digestive system.
