What is smog? How it is produced and what consequences it has

One of the effects of environmental pollution is smog, a word that, unfortunately, is becoming more and more common. The word comes from English and is a mixture of smoke and fog (smoke and fog). In short, it is a cloud produced by environmental pollution.

It is the result of large amounts of air pollution. Especially in terms of the smoke from the burning of coal and also the emissions of gases from industries, factories and also from cars.

What are the causes of smog?

One of the main causes of this problem is the industrial activity, especially the large factories, which work every day of the year and do not stop emitting pollution to the atmosphere. The emission of polluting gases from many of them affects both air, water and soil.

Combustion vehicles are another cause of smog, although in the near future, they will already be part of history because little by little the fleet of vehicles is becoming electric or run through liquefied gas or any other fuel that is respectful of environment.

Waste and its mismanagement are also another cause of smog, exactly the third most important cause, which leads to quite dangerous consequences.

What are the consequences of smog?

There are a large number of consequences that must be taken into account, such as:

• It produces irritation to the respiratory tract, being able to result in a bronchitis.
• It can cause anemia because carbon monoxide from smog prevents the lungs and blood from properly renewing their oxygen.
• Damage to the skin since the smog is absorbed, together with its polluting agents.
• The pathogens are suspended more easily in the air, making it easier to get some disease like the flu.
• Plants do not have clean air to breathe using a contaminated one, damaging them.
