June 21 is the summer solstice in the northern hemisphere, summer begins, and it is when there are the greatest number of hours of sunshine throughout the year. That is why the International Day of the Sun is celebrated. For some specialists in solar protection such as Toldos Guardamar it is a very significant date. It is the arrival of the beaches, holidays, the heat, … and it is very important to be well protected in order to spend a greater number of hours enjoying the sun.
The Sun is fundamental. It is the largest source of energy for Earth and living things. Without it, plants could not do photosynthesis, a fundamental process for the existence of life. It is also responsible for the variation in temperature, the seasons of the year, meteorological phenomena and many other vital factors for life on the planet. In short, the Sunislif and without it, the Earth would not be habitable.
Since ancient times, all civilizations have worshiped the star king. From the Egyptians, Celts, Mayans, Incas, … All have celebrated that arrival of the solstice as something transcendental in their lives.
Currently we have here in Spain the festivity of San Juan, a cult that comes from paganism and that has become Christianized. In this festivity thousands of bonfires are lit throughout the country as a cult of the sun and the main role of daylight hours in the northern hemisphere.
Toldos Guardamar joins that celebration on the day of the Sun, and reminds them that it should be taken in moderation, because like a vital contribution and necessary source of vitamin D, it can also create certain problems if abused. The best solution is to have a good sun protection system for those hours when it is most harmful.
