Winter is a time when many people neglect the maintenance of their awnings as they are normally used in summer and this can be a problem, as if we do not take proper care of them, we will be shortening the life of the awnings considerably.

Taking care of your awning in winter is easier than it may seem at first sight, you just have to take note of these tips and apply them.

Basic tips for the care of awnings in cold seasons

  • Try to keep your awning up whenever you are not going to use it. To do this, make sure the awning is perfectly dry.
  • Clean your awning at the beginning of winter and at the beginning of summer (at least), for this purpose use a neutral soap and water and remember to always wait for it to dry well before picking it up. However, if you notice that your awning is stained with bird droppings or any other substance, it is advisable to clean it as soon as possible.
  • The structure of the awning is metallic, to avoid oxidation try to keep the supports of the awning dry as much as possible and if you detect any rust stain treat it with some anti-rust. You can also paint the most exposed areas with anti-rust paint.
  • If there is wind, it is advisable to pick it up, since a too strong wind can damage the structure of the awning, depending on the material with which it is made and its resistance.
  • If your awning suffers any damage due to the wind, it is best to entrust the repair to a professional, because if you try to fix it yourself and do not have the appropriate knowledge, the problem may increase.

If you follow these simple tips, your awning will remain in perfect condition for much longer.
