December 10 is not only Human Rights Day, but it is also International Animal Rights Day since 1997. On that day events are also held in many parts of the world to raise awareness and reflect on the respect we owe have towards all sentient beings, thus giving value to the famous phrase of Mahatma Gandhi when he said that “a country or civilization can be judged in the way they treat their animals”
Animals not only have their international day, but they also have a Universal Declaration of Animal Rights. The International League for Animal Rights was the organization that proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Animal Rights on October 15, 1978.
The 14 articles that make up this Universal Declaration can be synthesized into four basic rights: life, freedom, not submitting to situations that cause them pain, and not being considered property. However, these rights are violated every day around the world. Animals are considered as a mere resource at the service of human beings, and this is fueled by the consumer concept of our society.
We list some things that you can do for animal welfare:
• Avoid as much as possible or reduce the consumption of meat.
• Avoid consuming eggs from farms where animals are crowded and in poor condition.
• Avoid the use of fur garments from animals.
• Avoid the use of cosmetics and makeup products that do not respect animal welfare.
• Do not attend shows that practice cruelty to animals.
• Fight against the abandonment of pets.
• Do not buy animals in stores but opt for adoption
In Toldos Guardamar your pets will always be well received, and for that reason we have enabled their own space where they can also have their delicacies. A safe space not only for humans, but for all sentient beings.
