Every October 24, the International Day Against Climate Change is commemorated around the world. A celebration established by the United Nations to alleviate the devastating effects that have been taking place in recent years throughout the planet.
Toldos Guardamar invites everyone to a little reflection on this International Day against climate change. Because we really think that everything is related. A change in the world climate and new viruses appear that threaten our place of comfort.
The modern lifestyle depends on the consumption of enormous amounts of energy. Energy use has doubled in thirty years and is expected to increase by 60% by 2030. And although there are clean alternatives for power generation, the largest proportion still comes from burning fossil fuels, such as coal, oil or gas. Fossil fuels generate large amounts of Greenhouse Gases (GHG).
A century and a half of industrialization, together with the felling of trees and the use of certain farming methods, have increased the amounts of greenhouse gases present in the atmosphere. As populations, economies and living standards grow, so does the cumulative level of emissions of these gases.
Due to this accumulation, the earth’s temperature, which had not changed much in 10,000 years, has increased significantly in the last 150 years.
If this trend continues, many species, including humans, will not be able to adapt quickly enough to avoid severe hardship.
Mitigate the effects.
To solve a problem, you must first understand it and assume that you have it. Then call on all world leaders to propose concrete and realistic plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 45% in the next ten years and to zero by 2050.
At Toldos Guardamar we think that, although the Earth always has and will have its climatic changes, we can still do things well so as not to contribute to global warming that condemns future generations.
