Spring is here and, like every year, it brings with it very sunny days. However, although we always think that we are the ones who have to protect ourselves from the sun’s rays, we often forget that our pets also need to protect themselves from the sun and heat.
The good news is that there are many ways to do it. And from Toldos Guardamar, we are going to tell you about some of them:
The sun is strongest during the central hours of the day, so it is best to avoid going for a walk or exercising with your pet during this time. Instead, opt to head out early in the morning or in the late afternoon, when the sun isn’t as intense.
Make sure your pet has access to plenty of shade throughout the day. If you are one of those who usually spends a lot of time in the garden, ensure that there are shady areas where you can take refuge.
It is important that your pet always have fresh, clean water on hand. If you leave the house with her, be sure to bring a bottle of water and a container so she can drink at all times.
Just like with humans, you can use sunscreen specially designed for pets. Be sure to apply it to areas exposed to the sun, such as the muzzle, ears, and abdomen.
Never leave your pet in the car on a hot day. Even with the windows partially open, the temperature can rise rapidly, causing dehydration or heat stroke.
Remember that our pets depend on us to stay healthy and happy, so it is our responsibility to take proper care of them on hot days.
