According to the CIS, 35% of young people consider that one of the biggest problems in Spain is the environment. This concern for the environment decreases with age, people between 35 and 40 years, only 1.2% see the problem that exists, while, if we focus our attention on people over 75 years, we see that only 0.1% of those surveyed indicate the problem.
Since activists like Greta Thunberg took to the streets in protest against the lack of action by the government, the problem of the environment has been on the table worldwide and many young people have demonstrated and taken to the streets for peaceful protests around the world with the intention of pressuring governments to take action and save the planet.
Among its main concerns are global warming and the consumption of plastics. On the other hand, they are also very concerned about the protection of animals and certain endangered species. It should be noted that the concern felt by the new generations is a very active concern, not only because they have taken to the streets, but because they intend to act accordingly and there are many young people who imagine in the near future collaborating with associations that are committed to environmental protection or animal protection.
For the time being, the last generations, as well as Greta Thunberg’s generation, have managed to make the environment a matter of global debate, they have managed to prevent it from being overlooked as it has happened so many times in the past. This first objective has been achieved, the politicians have been pressured enough to sit down and talk about the problem, now it is only necessary to ensure that effective measures are taken.
