It is a date of world interest, September 21 has been established as the international day of peace and is celebrated in all corners of the planet. The UN General Assembly has been in charge of assigning this day as an appropriate moment to strengthen the ideals of peace. On this day, it is common for a 24-hour observation of non-violence and a cease-fire to be carried out.
Another of the objectives set is the interest in the social, economic and general development of the peoples of the world. The facets are very varied, from hunger, poverty, education or health, to other fundamental aspects for life such as climate change, gender equality, sanitation or social justice, among many others.
This day is official in legal form and is covered by the third article of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. In this magician decree it is dictated that “Every individual has the right to life, liberty and security”. In this way, the United Nations Organization lays the foundations for world peace, justice and freedom.
Every year the United Nations assigns a different objective for the celebration of this important day. For this year 2021 the theme is “Recovering better for a sustainable and equitable world.” A special focus has been given to the issue of the COvid-19 pandemic in search of awareness based on the new normal, in addition to promoting receptivity to changes to turn the planet into a more sustainable, healthy and fair place.
