Energy saving is (or should be) one of the main objectives of any home. Everything that saves energy not only means having to pay less in bills, but we also will be helping to maintain the environment, but … what can we do to save energy in the home?

Tips for saving energy at home

One of the first steps we must take is to adjust our light contract. We may have much more contracted power than we actually consume, so we may be overpaying and wasting more energy.

Have not you gone over to LED technology yet? Discard the traditional light bulbs and opt for LEDs, they are a little more expensive than conventional bulbs but they give much more light, consume 80% less energy and give more light for much longer.

The temperature is something that must be taken into account at all times. The energy consumed by the washing machine is largely wasted in hot water. Let’s try to do it with cold water, the results will be the same. In addition, we must adapt the temperature of the refrigerator according to the season of the year in which we are.

The air conditioning must be controlled in terms of use and temperature. Less than 20 degrees in summer is to spend energy and even more so if there is an awning in the window or terrace. We must not forget to avoid that the devices that are not going to be used remain in standby. This can represent 10% of the household’s electricity consumption in a year.

If you are going to buy appliances, you have to bet on those that have more energy efficiency and if it can be, we must activate always eco mode, so that your electricity consumption will be much lower, resulting in a much reduced energy bill.
