World dog day is July 21, and although there are many days of the dog, perhaps this is the most symbolic. It may be because of the proximity of summer, because the holidays are coming and there are more abandonments of our lovely friends, we do not know. The case is that Toldos Guardamar sympathizes with dogs in these dates of heat, sun, beaches, … Let’s not forget them for a passing whim.
What do you want to achieve celebrating World Dog Day?
This annual anniversary, seeks to pay tribute to the canine world, faithful pets, guide dogs, dogs that help people with mental disabilities, rescue dogs. Dogs give us everything without asking for anything in return. Promote a date a year as ‘International Dog Day’, helps to raise awareness of problems related to the canine world. Abuse, abandonment, illegal breeding, …
Among the main objectives of that day:
- End the shows in which a dog is denigrated, punished or mistreated.
- The recognition of the rights of dogs, (like those of other animals), and not treated as simple objects. That the sterilizations and castrations (especially the one of the stray ones) are free and the City councils realize them.
- That the indiscriminate slaughter of dogs in some kennels is finished.
- Promote the responsible adoption of dogs. There are many dogs that have been abandoned, some are given as puppies and when they grow up, they are abandoned. In summer, there are people who when planning their vacations, do not consider where to leave their dog, and end up abandoning it.
