Winter is here! And with it, the arrival of bad weather (although on the Costa Blanca we cannot complain). From Toldos Guardamar, at the request of many of you, we are going to give you some tips so that your awning looks perfect.
In winter, although we are not using the awnings with the same frequency as in summer, the awnings can suffer due to the inclemency related to this season of the year.
Both rain, cold, hail or water. Taking it into account and following our instructions will make the useful life of your awning longer.
1. DO NOT LEAVE THE AWNING EXTENDED
The main advice is not to leave the awning extended during this season if you are going to be away from home for several hours or days. The weather can change, there can be a big blizzard, rain or hail, and these inclemencies can break or tear the fabric or damage the awning hardware.
2. KEEP HARDWARE DRY
Hardware is the metal that supports the canvas. They are a key element in every awning. And although we work with materials of excellent quality, if we take care of it they will last longer. With the arrival of bad weather (rain, wind, hail …), it is very important to keep them in good condition and, in order to prevent oxidation, we recommend keeping them dry.
3. DRY THE ACCUMULATED WATER
Although the awnings have a waterproofing layer through which the water slides, in case of stagnation it can get to seep, affecting the awning.
If for any reason you have left your awning extended during a storm, you must remove any accumulated water to prevent bags from forming.
If you let the awning dry before closing it, you will prevent mold or bad smells from occurring when you roll it up.
However, from Toldos Guardamar, we want to appeal to all our clients to verify, after the winter has passed, that the structure of their awnings is still in perfect condition. And it is that snow, rain, cold, etc., can cause structures to deteriorate.
It is very important that you check all the elements of the awning: hardware, canvas, motor, etc. But if you prefer, you can count on our specialists who can come to your home and certify that your awning is in perfect condition to continue enjoying its shade for another year.
At Toldos Guardamar we are at your entire disposal for any type of consultation, review or repairs.
