Cancer is a disease that affects millions of people every year, and according to figures from international organizations, a growth in the diagnosis of this pathology is expected, due among other things, to the unhealthy lifestyle that our society leads.
In this sense, the diet rich in processed products, the consumption of chemical substances in these foods, and environmental pollution, are triggering factors that we must avoid to maintain a much healthier life.
In this context, the World Health Organization, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) and the International Union against Cancer (UICC) have established February 4 as World Cancer Day, in order to increase levels of awareness in society to take the necessary measures to help prevent and control this disease.
By looking at the underlying reality in the cancer-related figures, we can see a significant increase in diagnosed cases, as well as the consequences that this entails. In that sense, statistics show us that about 9 million people die from this disease every year, and 40% of these cases correspond to young people of productive age.
If we analyze these figures, we realize that cancer has become a pandemic, and therefore the health authorities must carry out actions that lead to the decrease in the mortality rate, but above all, to increase awareness in each of the people.
In this scenario, it is logical to establish one day a year to fight against a disease that plagues our planet, looking for viable alternatives that involve all actors in society, including science, politics and technology.
From Toldos Guardamar today we unite in the fight against cancer because together we are able to overcome all the challenges of life.
