From childhood we are taught that the family is one of the most important things we have in life, since thanks to it we have the opportunity to know maternal love, and grow in an environment full of positive values, such as solidarity. , respect for our fellow men, compassion, empathy, gratitude, responsibility and forgiveness.
In fact, when we observe the behavior of a child who has grown up in a healthy family environment, we can clearly see how her actions tend to take place within a framework of justice, where collective well-being takes on real importance. For this reason, we must do everything humanly possible to maintain harmony with the family, especially with our parents, children and siblings.
Aware of this reality, the United Nations Organization proclaimed May 15 as the International Day of the Family, and this was established in resolution number 47/237 issued on September 20, 1993.
Despite the fact that the International Day of the Family has been celebrated since 1994, there are antecedents that go back to 1983, when the UN Commission for Social Development exhorts world leaders and the different responsible parties to adopt legislative measures, to promote actions that lead to awareness to preserve the family as a fundamental pillar of society.
In general, the objective of this proclamation is to make the world aware of the importance of the family in the construction of a much more just society committed to human values, starting from a home education that fosters family ties and brotherly union. Likewise, the importance of the family to promote the development, self-esteem and personal growth of all those who integrate it is recognized.
