Hiking in Guardamar del Segura is a fantastic activity that will allow us to discover many of the charms of this destination, increasingly touristic. In this place we can find a large number of different routes for all kind of people, from those who start in this trekking to those who already have many kilometers done and a lot of experience.
Routes in Guardamar del Segura that you should not miss
One of them is the route of the port, with a length of just 2.7 kilometers that runs through different parts of this latitude, as the last stretch of the Segura River, the northern edge of the urban area and the pine forest until the end of the fishing harbor. This route is ideal for observing waterfowl, especially in the area where the fresh waters of the river meet with the salty waters of the Mediterranean.
The route of the river and the hills starts at the Iron Bridge and ends at the Ford of the Inquisition, with a length of about 4,7 kilometers, is another of the options at Guardamar del Segura. After crossing the iron bridge you have to walk on the left bank of the old river, in a westerly direction, until you find the new channel of the river that should be followed by the right margin, in a westerly direction.
The whole trail is dotted with many elements of archaeological heritage such as mills, canal gates, archaeological sites or the Phoenician citadel of Cabezo Pequeño del Estaño, among others.
The route of the dunes and the Gola is another proposal to make in this destination. It begins at the Tourist Offices and finishes at the breakwater of the Gola after about 3.2 kilometers of route. Leaving the urban area by the Paseo del Ingeniero Mira towards the sea crossing the dunes, after about 300 meters you turn left and cross the pine forest and at the end you will find the marina and the mouth of the Segura.
Do not forget other routes such as dels Tussals, La Laguna, the different paths of the pine forest or the Senda del Castillo.
