December 5th is the International Volunteer Day, a day that we at Toldos Guardamar wanted to mark in our calendar, as it is one of the moments of the year when people come together with a very defined objective: to make solidarity grow in our society.
Volunteering is carried out in different areas: cultural, scientific, environmental, civic, social, etc. Volunteers are needed all over the world and it is sought that each person collaborates with the area with which they identify most, any help, no matter how small it is necessary.
At a time when the lack of goods is so evident, when thousands of people are risking their lives in search of a safe place to live, at a time when there is such a large and varied group of people in need of urgent help, volunteering takes on great importance. It is when we realize that more than a kilo of rice or pasta, or a pack of diapers, there are people who need affection, attention, love, and security.
There are people who have no one to turn to, there are people who are very, very lonely. There are people who can’t change their lives because they can’t find strength anywhere, because they’ve lost the little hope they had, because they don’t have anyone to hold their hands. This is where volunteerism makes a difference. Volunteers have a great opportunity to reduce social differences, to provide well-being and to contribute, even a little, to someone’s happiness. We invite you to join us on this important day for many people.
Hopefully, days like this will spread among citizens and it is not necessary to highlight December 5 as a day of volunteering because solidarity is already present 365 days a year.
