Since awnings arrived in Spain in 1936, they have been installed in all types of businesses, protecting shop windows and the entrances of shops, workshops, pastry shops… But if there is a business that really benefits are the restaurants with their awnings, which can turn the shadow into extra space and, therefore, money.
What are the profits of restaurant awnings?
For any business it is an important benefit to have shade in the shop window and in the entrance area, since this protects what is exposed in front of the windows and makes it more pleasant to look at it while deciding whether to enter the shop or not, for example. However, the restaurants are the ones who benefit the most from the shade.
The main benefits of awnings for a restaurant are the following:
- They allow you to create terraces under your shade, which means you can expand the service area and, therefore, the daily customers. In addition, eating on the terrace is often highly valued by customers, especially in very touristy cities or areas with great views. In addition, if the position of the awning can be changed, closed spaces can be created in winter and open in summer.
- Shading the door or windows makes it possible to place tables next to them, even if the restaurant is located in an area of high temperatures in which the sun shines for many hours.
- It avoids having to put curtains, allowing a natural lighting and avoiding having to waste electricity in excess. The awning avoids that the sun gives directly without avoiding the passage of the light.
- In restaurants that display their menu with prices on the door, it makes it more pleasant for customers to consult them without having to endure the sun (or rain) on their heads.
