The pollution of the oceans is something that is increasing and, unfortunately, is more and more in the news. Water covers two thirds of our planet, it provides us with food, energy and many other treasures of great value. Despite this, we have not known how to take care of all these treasures and nowadays, the oceans need help.
There are many problems facing the oceans of our planet. One of them is overfishing. Although fish and shellfish are a very healthy source of food, fishing without control is a serious problem. Fishing occurs much faster than the fish reproduce, so,little by little, the natural resources of the sea are being depleted.
Another big problem is pollution. The acidification of the seas is a serious threat. CO² emissions have quadrupled since the industrial era and the concentration of CO² in the atmosphere has increased by 40%.
In this case, it must be said that the oceans can absorb that toxic gas, but paying a high price, the acidification of the water, causing many fish to lose their life zone and look for other places, many of them dying in the transition.
But the problem is even more serious when we talk about garbage, especially plastic, the most dangerous problem that the seas of the entire planet face. It is estimated that by 2050 there will be more plastic in the sea than fish, something that not only affects marine fauna but also humans.
In fact, it is something that already affects us, because each time more fish are found with a stomach full of plastics, affecting the food chain and also to us, because we can get to eat fish that has ingested plastic or any dangerous substance from some spill.
