Although the concept of family has been transformed in recent decades, evolving according to global trends and demographic changes, the United Nations considers that the family constitutes the basic unit of society. In this context, the International Day of Families gives us the opportunity to recognize, identify and analyze social, economic and demographic issues that affect their development and evolution.

The origin of this celebration is found in 1994, which was declared by the United Nations as the International Year of the Family, to reflect and celebrate the families of the world. Since before that year, the concept of family had begun to change – it was extended – and that was one of the reasons why it was decided to assign a special date to them.

From Toldos Guardamar we think that the main and most important thing to celebrate this day, is diversity, because it does not matter what your family is -if it is small, big, with two mothers, with two parents, single parent, adoptive, because what matters is the love, the help and understanding that everyone offers.
